Action from the F.A. Cup 1st Qualifying Round match played at Victory Park on the 7th September 1963.

Chorley claimed a 2-1 victory in a close and exciting match.

Higham gave the visitors the lead after 37 minutes, previous to this Chorley had missed the opportunity to open the scoring when Dalton hit the ball straight at the Stalybridge keeper from only a couple of yards.

Hobson equalised for Chorley after 57 minutes. Watson, Wroth and Dalton were all denied goals by Dixon in the Stalybridge goal who produced some fine saves, before a Watson penalty after 79 minutes gave Chorley the lead and ultimately the victory
